This Morning Routine Will Improve Your Mood

Maybe you and mornings aren’t the best of friends. Let’s talk about it.

When establishing a morning routine, make it something that excites you! Start by asking yourself questions like, “What makes me feel good?” or “What do I love, but don’t do enough of?”. Include an activity you absolutely love to energize and prepare yourself for the day ahead. Whether it be a 5 minute facial cleanse, making your favorite cup of joe, or jamming out to your favorite songs, taking this time is you telling yourself “I matter”.

Form the foundation. Keep it simple. The key is to not overwhelm yourself with a million activities. Prioritize 30 minutes – 1 hour to yourself prior to starting the work day. Be consistent with the new habit you are trying to form. Most importantly, be NICE to yourself, there will be resistance at first just like any new habit. Once you push through the phases of not feeling like it, your morning routine will start to become something you look forward to.

Set the tone. How you spend your morning will set the tone for the rest of your day. Your routine does not have to be set in stone. Just like yourself, it will evolve and change to suit the person you are at that time. Get creative! There are a ton of empowering activities to try. One I personally love is journaling in my Future Self Journal. Their daily prompts allow me to do some self-reflections and jot down goals I can carry with me into my day. By aligning my thoughts, beliefs, and actions, I embody my true and future self!
